Matthew‘s Discovery Profile
Matthew Cook is a leadership and team development specialist who helps organisations unlock better communication, stronger relationships and more effective collaboration through behavioural insight.
His interest in behavioural psychology and workplace dynamics began when he received his own Insights Discovery profile. Like many people, he found the experience unexpectedly revealing. It provided language for understanding behaviour: how people communicate, what energises them, what drains them and the impact they have on others. That experience sparked a lasting fascination with human behaviour and ultimately became the foundation of his work today.
As an accredited Insights Discovery Practitioner, facilitator and coach, Matthew has introduced the Insights Discovery model to more than 3,000 people across over 20 countries. He has worked with teams in the private, public and not for profit sectors, including FTSE 100 and S&P 100 organisations, designing and delivering programmes that create meaningful and sustainable change.
Known for his engaging, energetic and highly relatable facilitation style, Matthew combines insight, humour and practical application to create learning experiences that are both memorable and impactful. Delegates regularly describe his approach as “inclusive, humorous and knowledgeable”.
Matthew works closely with leaders and teams to build self awareness, improve communication and strengthen team effectiveness. His ability to connect with diverse audiences, alongside a strong focus on practical outcomes, enables him to create bespoke solutions tailored to each organisation’s culture and challenges.
Matthew strives to make things better, rather than simply accepting them as they are. This makes him the perfect fit for his role as our CRM Lead. He oversees all technology systems to support the organisation’s goals. In Matthew’s Insights Discovery profile, he says the words that describe him best are “an ingenious thinker and long-range planner”. Matthew applies this in the work that he does for The Colour Works for business-wide strategy, implementation, and process improvement.
Matthew holds a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham and is currently undertaking his ILM Level 7 Coaching qualification, further strengthening his commitment to helping leaders and teams achieve lasting success.
Outside of work, he can usually be found playing football in the Mid Essex Saturday League as a self-described “mediocre striker”, competing in judo competitions or sitting somewhere on the M25. In 2026, he completed the London Marathon with a fracture, raising almost £6,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
